Auction #209 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1144 in auction 209
Item Description
Large and impressive 27" tall full body Santa Claus display figure comes in four parts - head, body and separate legs/feet which fit into molded peg holes on underside of body. 1920s. Has label on bottom "Manufactured By M.H. Riddell." Body is hollow and mouth has hole as made. We are unsure what display's exact purpose was, but possibly held candy or children's letters to Santa. Display figure has scattered wear/aging w/3.25" long crack from neck to belt, but as this partially lays against coat's trim, blends somewhat. Three cracks at neckline, which has some vintage painted tape reinforcements. Cracks measure 1.5", 1.75" and 3.5" Bottom of coat trim has numerous scattered small paint flakes. A few paint flakes to very top of hat as well. Displays Fine overall. Nice large Santa display.
