Item Description
Gold has been a popular currency for over 4,000 years, due in part to its aesthetic appeal, a characteristic perfectly demonstrated in this wonderful nugget. Nuggets that still remain to be found represent a strictly limited and diminishing resource, w/gold nuggets being twice as rare as diamonds. Additionally, almost all gold nuggets found prior to 1990 have been melted down. Areas where considerable amounts of gold nuggets have been found are Victoria and Western Australia, where this beautiful alluvial (a loose and unconsolidated specimen which has been eroded/reshaped by water in some form, and redeposited in a non-marine setting) specimen was found. Nugget displays a bright yellow color denoting a high karat content. Gold this pure and in its natural form makes it a highly collectible specimen. Quartz inclusions at interior. Finely textured w/pits and protrusions, it has the appearance of delicate gold leaf, w/folds, crevices, apertures and delicate, textured frills. In fine contrast, the raised areas are slightly smooth and the whole piece measures approximately 1x1.25x.75" and weighs 1.055 troy oz (32.83 grams). From the Robert M. Overstreet Collection and comes with COA.
