Auction #209 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1144 in auction 209
Item Description
1-1/8" enamel on brass with numerous marks by the German maker on the reverse. Pin features a large letter "G" enclosing scene of early auto with white mountain peaks and blue sky behind. Lettering on the letter "G" reads "Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse." This translates to "Grossglockner High Alpine Road." This is the highest mountain of Austria and the highest mountain in the Alps, east of the Brenner Pass. Because of weather conditions this road closes for winter in late October. A beautiful and rare badge from the 1930s.
