Item Description
Lot consists of 1.25" medallion that reads "This medallion contains metal from spacecrafts Columbia and Eagle, that took astronauts Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins on their historic Apollo 11 mission that resulted in the first landing of man on the moon. It is sealed in a plastic presentation case and is accompanied by a letter from executives of North American Rockwell from 1971 stating an appreciation for the effort made by the Apollo space flights. Lot also includes a tie clip of Apollo command module. Original owner was a reporter for Channel 4 in Buffalo, New York. Believed to be only 2,000 to 3,000 of these medals produced. Medal is made from material that was brought back from the moon during Apollo 11's flight. Exc.
