Professionally framed and matted 14x36" poster for original release of the classic 1961 MGM film, Britain's answer to the success of Japan's Godzilla and Gamera films. The filmed starred Bill Travers, William Sylvester, Vincent Winter, Bruce Seton, Joseph O'Conor, Martin Benson, Barry Keegan, Dervis Ward, Christopher Rhodes and was directed by Eugène Lourié. The film tells the story of an underwater monster's capture off the coast of Ireland. The monster is taken to London to be featured as a circus attraction. The film borrows elements from other monster movies, such as Godzilla and King Kong. Originally folded as issued, poster has four horizontal folds and .5" tear at bottom left corner.
