Auction #209 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1144 in auction 209
Item Description
1.75" holding early back paper from St. Louis Button Co. Paper has pair of 1/8" holes and is lightly tanned. The paper itself is rare and this is the example used in Hake's Collectible Pin-Back Buttons page 305 to illustrate this design used by the company in 1900. The button itself pictures man in western garb beneath the text which is a title of a famous 1850s era gold mining song "Joe Bowers, All The Way From Pike." The event was "Louisiana, Mo. Street Fair, Sept. 5,6,7,8. 1900." Celluloid has been flattened but the only age trace is pinpoint dot on far left edge. There are some faint small marks on the cello surface but showing only in reflected light. Rare.
