Item Description
First is 7/8" picturing "James A. Sexton." No back paper and with a bit of oxidation over the metal reverse but cello is clean. In 1898 he became Commander In Chief of the Grand Army of the Republic. Second is 1.75" with real photo of "Gilman Marston." Top rim edge has a hole and piece was likely on a ribbon. Reverse is a blank piece of cream celluloid. He served in the war and his arm was shattered but he refused an amputation. He recovered and fought in major campaigns. He then became United States Representative, Senator, and United States Army general. Cello has long diagonal scratch but just showing in reflected light. Third item has fraternal Elks emblem at top and reads "Grand Lodge Union." Suspended 1.5" celluloid below pictures "John D. Jones/1st Lieut. Co. A, 7th Pa. Cav." This item is c.1910 and Jones was at one point the oldest veteran attending 7th Pennsylvania Calvary reunions. All are Exc. except as noted.
