Item Description
1" with very graphic red/white/blue on silver design. This was the largest American woman's service organization during the war. The group provided volunteers to help with message delivery, ambulance driving, emergency kitchens, cycle corps drivers, dog-sled teamsters, aircraft spotters, fire fighting, truck driving, and canteen work. Alice Throckmorton McLean founded the group in January, 1940 23 months before the United States entered the war. Actresses involved in the group included Joan Crawford, Hattie McDaniel, and Betty White. First example we've seen since way back in Auction #153. Light oxidation over reverse but cello is Mint.
