Item numbers 1 through 1144 in auction 209
Item Description
Large and impressive 33.5x47.5" frame contains 28x40" poster for noted magician Grover George, known primarily by his last name. Printed by the Otis Lithograph Co. of Cleveland, OH. c. 1926. Poster has been elaborately and professionally triple-matted and features wonderful imagery of George at center, performing card trick. He is surrounded by images of Chinese lanterns and Asian man and woman, nighttime scene of the Sphinx and Pyramids, small image of witch and scene showing three devils (one w/snake) performing tricks of their own at bottom right. Poster advertises George's "Triumphant American Tour" which ultimately never occurred. Poster goes on to note "18 People" being involved in the tour, which would employ a "Carload Of Scenic Effects." Poster was originally folded but fold lines are only noticeable upon close inspection and poster displays Exc. w/bright and bold colors. Wonderful magic poster.
