Set of three 1.5" dia. "Medallions" coins issued by Marvel Comics during the mid-1970s. Only three coins were issued, featuring Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk and Conan the Barbarian. Each coin features nice action image of the comic hero on obverse, reverse feature additional portrait image w/accompanying quote/text and the character's first appearance in Marvel Comics. They were issued in silver as offered here as well as bronze (see following item #2455). Each contains approximately one ounce of pure .999 silver and were limited to just 2,500 produced. These silver coins were issued at $14.95 a piece, a rather expensive price for an item of this type, given the time they were produced and who they were marketed towards. As a result, not many of these silver coins sold, resulting in them being difficult to come by now. Coins show scattered lt. wear and are Exc. overall. This is the first silver set we have ever offered and the few other we have seen have typically sold at auction in the $600 to $800 range.
