Item Description
First is the 1934 silvered brass badge reading "Reporter/Dick Steel News Service." Piece is accented by stars, wing design and lightning bolt representing radio transmission. With this comes the 2-1/8" bar shaped badge given to a higher ranking club member and reading "Chief Editor." This piece is Rare. Next is beautifully designed 1-7/8" tall highly embossed Mint luster brass badge reading "Special Police Reporter/Dick Steel News Service." Below the spread winged eagle is image of a radio front with his high relief portrait at the center of the dial all accented by surrounding lightning bolts. This piece is Mint and scarce. With it comes the rare "Detective Bureau" rank advancement badge in an arch shape. Also from 1934, and this required three Wheat Thinsies labels plus the names of three friends joining as club members to acquire the higher rank. Last is a litho tin 2-5/8" long whistle. Text reads "'Dick Steel' Special Police Reporters Whistle/Educator Hammered Wheat Thinsies." Front has small loss of paint in the area to be inserted into the mouth and underside has about 1/3 of the dark red paint missing. Another rare piece.
