Item Description
The Three Stooges are one of the most beloved comedy acts of all time. But many don't know that the act started out as "Ted Healy And His Southern Gentlemen," consisting of Moe Howard, his brother Shemp, and Larry Fine. This threesome did one feature film entitled "Soup To Nuts" in 1930 before Shemp left to pursue a solo career. He was replaced by his brother Curly and the trio became The Three Stooges. This 7.25x10-1/8" (opened) herald promotes a 1929 musical comedy revue performance of "A Night In Venice" w/imprint of the Grand Opera House of Chicago on lower right of front. Front depicts image of female driver piloting gondola which has image of Ted Healy w/several dancing girls. Inside has photos of additional costumed female performers, including another photo w/Healy. Additional photo of Healy shows him w/costumed Larry, Moe and Shemp. Folded vertically as issued w/some lt. surface wear along fold line. VF overall. Early and historic Three Stooges item, from before they were The Three Stooges.
