Item Description
Lot of four hardcover books (w/dust jackets) published by Arkham House, a publisher specializing in weird fiction founded in Sauk City, WI. in 1939 by August Derleth and Donald Wandrei to preserve in hardcover the best fiction of H.P. Lovecraft. The company's name is derived from Lovecraft's fictional New England city, Arkham. Arkham House editions are noted for the quality of their printing and binding. Titles/years/editions printed included in this lot are "The Doll And One Other" by Algernon Blackwood, 1946 (3,000 printed); "Fearful Pleasures" by A.E. Coppard, 1946 (4,033 printed); "Not Long For This World" by Arkham co-founder August Derleth, 1948 (2,000 printed); and "Black Medicine" by Arthur J. Burks, 1966 (2,000 printed). "The Doll And One Other" has a color photocopy dust jacket but the book itself is Exc. "Fearful Pleasures" dust jacket has one corner clipped and is moderately aged w/wear at top and bottom of spine. VG. Other DJs have scattered wear and are Fine-VF overall. Books are Exc. "Not Long For This World" has "Forrest J. Ackerman Auction - December, 1987 New York" inkstamp on second to last page.
