Item Description
23.75x35.5x1.75" deep painted composition two-dimensional display depicts Donald Duck dancing w/cane in hand. Top of display is bordered by a Christmas bow and wreath. Raised "Donald Duck" name to right of his image. Lower left of display marked "© By Special Permission Of Walt Disney Enterprises." c. 1934 by Old King Cole Inc., the premiere manufacturer of Disney store displays. Display has several small scattered paint flakes, most to wreath and larger areas just below wreath, on Donald's elbow and collar. These are not too distracting and aside from some scattered dust soiling, display is Fine overall. Display is complete and original as produced, w/no restoration or repair work of any kind. Shown in the 1934 Kay Kamen Christmas Promotion Book, this is one of 12 different designs, each featuring a single Disney character. A copy of the page w/Donald Duck display comes along as well as a copy of the original price list for Old King Cole displays. All displays by this company are rare, and in our last auction we offered a mechanical Donald that sold for $14,610. A stunning display piece and a must-have for any serious collector of Disneyana and what could easily become the focal point of your collection. The only example of a display from this series that we have offered in our 47 years.
