10x11x6.75" deep glazed ceramic figural cookie jar by American Bisque Co. c. early 1960s. Cookie jar depicts Harvey Cartoons character Katnip hunkered down while Herman the Mouse stands atop his back, serving as lid handle. Incised "Herman And Katnip" names on base. Incised "USA" on opposite side. Jar has lt. scattered small crazing, mainly only visible upon close inspection. Still displays Exc. Among the rarest and most desirable comic character cookie jars. Listed in the Cookie Jar Book by Moran at $4,000, the last example of the cookie jar we offered sold for $10,143. Given that price, we feel the consignor has set a very reasonable opening bid.
