Item Description
Original illustrated cardboard box contains 14" wide by 37.5" long child's plastic riding toy. Marx. ©1966 NPP, Inc. Graphic box w/different illustration on each panel shows Batman and Robin w/Batmobile toy, child w/toy and images and special features including "Modern Wheel Design, Real Tail Fins, Steering Wheel, Exciting 'Play' Bat Phone." Large batsymbol graphics on each panel as well. Box shows scattered wear w/dust soiling and creases. Small area of writing in marker on one end panel. Fine. Batmobile was produced in different color variations, main body of Batmobile in black w/desirable red fins and yellow cockpit windshield variety. Batmobile has batsymbol-shaped steering wheel which has squeaking horn. Car has spring tension motor that operated by pushing Batmobile back, then releasing push-down brake handle and lifting feet to be propelled forward. This function no longer works. Missing set of four miniature tools as is usual. Three gold-colored rubber exhaust pipes on trunk are complete. Trunk missing 2.25x4" gold foil "Batman" sticker, sticker residue remains. Front fenders, below recessed area for child's feet are large 3.5x5.5" "Batmobile" reproduction decal stickers w/large batsymbol. Applied decal stickers for headlights and air intake, though intake sticker has 1" piece off edge. Missing large batsymbol decal under air intake. Tail lights and batsymbol grille decals are missing. Cockpit windshield is missing separate removable plastic "Bat Phone." Intricately and realistically-detailed dash in chrome luster (which shows wear) red plastic shows speedometer which can be adjusted, several knobs that can be turned and has directional gear levers. Batmobile has obvious wear to hard plastic wheel treads from use. VG, but still displays nicely. Also missing cowl/cape poncho. Great large toy and certainly the nicest Batmobile collectible produced during the 1966 Batmania craze.
