Item Description
Susan Saxe is one of eight women ever to make the FBI's most wanted list. She and Katherine Ann Power, both students at Brandeis, attended SDS protest rallies and formed a committee known as The National Student Strike Force. With associate Stanley Bond they became involved in a plot to arm the Black Panthers as a response to United States involvement in the Vietnam War. Bond introduced them to former convicts William Gilday and Robert Valeri and together the group plotted to rob the State Street Bank & Trust. On September 20, 1970, the group robbed a National Guard armory in Newburyport, Massachusetts and took 400 rounds of ammunition. Three days later, on September 23, 1970, the group robbed a bank in Brighton, Massachusetts carrying handguns, a shotgun and a sub-machine gun. The first police officer on the scene was shot by Gilday and later died. The first two paper posters are 10.5x16". They are "Wanted Flyer" 462 & 463 both issued September 30, 1970. Both have listed offenses as: Interstate Flight-Murder; Theft Of Government Property. J. Edgar Hoover facsimile signature at bottom. Both are addressed to "Irvington Federal Savings And Loan/Association Of Baltimore City, Baltimore 29, Maryland 21229." Both are folded as mailed and have small .25x.5" stain on image side caused by original sealing tape on mailer side, otherwise both are Mint as issued. The remaining two posters are both for Power. First 8x11", the other 8x8". Smaller one has perforated address panel removed at bottom. Both addressed to same Irvington Federal Savings And Loan/Baltimore. Sealing tape as mailed. Otherwise both are NM as issued.
