Item Description
In 1895, the Gettysburg National Military Park was created. In 1995, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the preservation of Civil War battlefields, the U.S. Mint issued specially designed Half Dollars, Silver Dollars, and $5 gold pieces for sale to collectors at a premium. Portions of the profits from the sale of the coins were donated to the Civil War Trust, whose mission was to preserve American Civil War battlefields. The designers of this coin were Don Troiana and Alfred Maletsky. The obverse features a bugler atop a horse while the reverse shows a defiant eagle atop a Union shield. This version of the coin was struck at the West Point Mint. From the Robert M. Overstreet collection and comes with COA.
