Item Description
Stephen Velie, Jr. was the grandson of John Deere and joined that firm in Kansas City as an assistant manager. A few years after 1892 he founded a company whose name appears on this button as "Velie Limited." Many of the Velie products for horses were also sold through John Deere. Curl names button maker "Lewis, Swift & Co." c.1910. A few faint pinpoint age dots on lower left edge. Full gloss and Exc. See next item.
