Item Description
1.25" has seldom seen back paper by New York maker Henry Schwartz. Reverse cello has .5" near hairline cello split laying flat. Front has just a faint age dot on the right edge. Text is "Stampede/Sheepshead Bay Speedway/Aug. 5-12-16." This famous racetrack was first used for horse racing but that effort failed and the track was sold around 1915 to the Sheepshead Bay Speedway Corporation. They converted the horse track to a board racetrack for automobiles. We have not found a specific name for this specific race but between 1915 & 1919 races were held including the Astor Cup Race and the Harkness Trophy Race.
