Item Description
This certainly qualifies as one of the very earliest figural pin-back buttons. The front is a die-cut piece of celluloid in the shape of an apple. The state in 1901 adopted the apple blossom as its floral emblem. Twelve tiny brass tabs hold the celluloid to a sheet of tin which is open on the reverse center which encloses a back paper reading "Made By The Balto Badge & Nov. Co. Balto. Md." Front of the piece shows the "Arkansas" probable State Capitol building at the time. At lower right is a speeding steam locomotive and at lower left are floral designs. Hake book Collectible Pin-Back Buttons photo example Expositions #224. Comes with Hake's COA. Only two known to us and displaying Mint.
