1.25" shows Uncle Sam having just pulled down Spanish flag and raising American flag flanked by soldier and sailor at left and right and tiny warships in the distance, all under slogan "We Have Remembered The Maine." Bottom edge has 1898 copyright by Charles W. Reitler. As usual, missing W&H back paper which included extensive paragraph of certification that the purchaser of this button had contributed to a fund to be used for "Remembrances For The Brave Gunners Of The American Navy, To Commemorate Accurate Firing In The Late American-Spanish War." Cello has scattered tiny scratches that show only in reflected light. Displays Mint. Among the scarcest in the small series of about six cartoon style buttons.
