5.5" tall toy made in Japan by Masudaya for the English market, 1930s w/Masudaya's "MT" logo on rear wheels. Tricycle is painted tin and tin litho w/built-in key and has attached Donald Duck figure w/celluloid head, upper body and feet plus fabric pants. Attached to the back of tricycle is fabric Union Jack flag of Great Britain. Donald also has frayed fabric ribbon accent on hat. Toy works and he travels in a circle as his legs and feet move as if peddling the tricycle and flag which is attached to the wind-up mechanism also waves. Pants are faded w/age and have scattered dust soiling, most noticeable at waist and cuffs. Left foot has .25" indentation at side, right foot has tiny indent to one toe. Outer edge of hat has minor 1/8" indentation. Toy shows just lt. scattered aging, w/aging and slight edge fraying to the flag. An exceptional working and VF example. While there are Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck wind-up tricycle toys about half this size, this larger wind-up is quite impressive. Scarce. From the Maurice Sendak Collection and comes with COA.
