Item Description
First are eighteen Rin Tin Tin and other dexterity puzzle premiums from Green Duck Button Co. archive. Each of these is a 1-5/8” dia. tin frame with a clear plastic covering over ball bearings. Each has been glued to Green Duck's 6.5x11” blue velvet-covered board which has a velvet cover that snaps closed. While these examples are glued down, they could be removed although there would be some glue traces on the underside. These are essentially uncirculated examples from the Green Duck Button Co. archive. The non-Rin-Tin-Tin examples include bear, clown (plastic pushed in on this one), body builder (plastic pushed in on this one), clown closeup, Buster Brown and Tige and one advertising Quaker City Life Ins. Co. One puzzle is glued face-down so the underside displays reading “Nabisco Shredded Wheat Juniors.” Among the Rin Tin Tin items, there are 10 different from the complete set of 12 issued in 1956 by Nabisco. There is a duplicate of “101st Cavalry Trooper” and the two missing are for “Army Wagon” and “Cochise.” A great group about as Mint as they come. Second is Cracker Jack probable complete set of army insignia badges from Green Duck Button Co. archive. These mid-1950s pieces are listed in Larry White’s book on Cracker Jack give-aways as the series “E 3701-3709.” He shows 9 numbered items but one of these entries is in error so he actually lists 10. We have probable full set of 16 plus one duplicate. Each is a 1-5/8” embossed tin badge finished in bright gold luster. Reverse has bar pin. First in the series has large letters “U.S.” with the word “Army” below. The other 15 different all include the phrase “U.S. Army” which we won’t repeat but which does appear on each item which features a design representative of the text. The other 15 are: Adjutant General’s Corps, Armor, Artillery, Chemical Corps, Engineers, Finance Corps, Infantry, Medical Corps, Military Police, Ordinance, Quartermaster, Signal Corps, Specialist, Transportation Corps and W.A.C. The duplicate in the group reads “U.S. Army/Armor.” These are all uncirculated examples in essentially Mint condition. Last are gold and silver luster themed tabs circa mid-1950s from Green Duck Button Co. archives. These 12 pieces are glued to Green Duck's 6.5x11” blue velvet-covered board with velvet cover that snaps closed. They display beautifully and are basically Mint condition examples from the Green Duck archive. Those in the top two rows are 1.75” tall while those in the bottom row are 1-7/8” tall. Within each row, each design appears twice, once in gold luster and once in silver luster. Those in row 1 are “Junior Police” and “Private Eye.” In row 2 are “Junior Astronaut” and “Fire Patrol Chief.” In row 3 are “Junior Marshal” and “Deputy Marshal.” A beautiful display and the tabs are actually rarely seen.
