In Disney Pin collecting circles, the name Gomes instantly brings reverent silence reserved only for those who are true legends in their craft and Elisabete Gomes is just that for Disney Pins. She has arguably created the best series of pins ever released by Disney. A renowned creator of fine ceramic collectibles, Gomes has been working in collaboration w/Disney since the Fall of 1993 and has worked w/many legendary Disney animators including Ward Kimball, Marc Davis, Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas. Offered here is PinPics #28967, a 2.5" dia. enameled metal pin graded and encapsulated by PinPics depicting the Spring Sprite character from Disney's 1999 animated musical feature "Fantasia 2000," the sequel to 1940's "Fantasia." A trio of butterflies and a dragonfly flutter in front of Sprite's face. PinPics graded at 7.2 (VF). This pin design contains a record number of fills (individual sections to be filled in w/enamel) w/over 350, leaving ample opportunities for imperfections in the individually hand-filled enamel processes. The unusually delicate border shows wear w/some flaking w/about 90% of gold-plating remaining. Released in 2004 as part of a limited edition of just 100.
