Item Description
The construction of this item is the same as the previous Jack Armstrong item. The underside tin in fact is identical with the same text and designs. The lid of the piece however is done in black with silver text and dial design below the title "Lie Detektor." The colors do seem to be machine printed although this is very curious as this is the only example we have seen with a lid of this design in five decades. We sold this same item many years ago and it has been reconsigned. Works on the same principle with a cellophane strip on the interior. Heat from a finger placed over the holes at the box edge will cause the needle to answer some posed question by the user. Unlike the words on the standard Answer Box which are things like "So What!/Maybe/Try Again" etc. the words on this box simply alternate between "True" and "False" along with a single question mark symbol at the middle of the list above the celluloid window where the pointed needle can be seen. The box lid has only light general wear and is Exc. Underside of the box has a little color off the four corners and a couple hairline scratches down the middle but overall this part of the item is also Fine. Unique in our experience. c.1938 and possibly produced for Wheaties as a follow-up to the original concept.
