Item Description
4.5x14x16" boxed beautiful litho tin wind-up by Automatic Toy Co., Staten Island c. 1950. Toy unfolds to 7" tall by 14" wide target area plus a 15.5" outward extension on bottom front tapered end. Extension has tin gun on swivel turret. Gun is loaded by pulling shooting rod to rear allowing 3/16" metal ball to fall into gun barrel. Gun is then fired by releasing the spring plunger. Balls are included and remain in original envelope. Wind-up action drives a cable holding a sequence of die-cut tin miniature stagecoach followed by four robbers on horseback. All fall backward if struck by ammunition ball. Targets have various point values. Foreground pictures Hoppy, Lucky, California. Box has art image of children playing with toy and bw image of Hoppy on Topper. Text incudes "Endorsed By America's Favorite Western Star." Box has numerous tears on side. Darkened images on top. Box Good. Comes with manufacture guarantee with notation "Valid Until July 1, 1952." Wind-up mechanism works. Toy appears unused and N. Mint.
