2-5/8x8.5”. Top text “Inauguration/March 4th, 1841.” Followed by flying eagle holding ribbon in beak reading “We Have Met The Enemy And They Are Ours.” Below eagle is a battle scene depicting Harrison on horseback with tiny date “October 5th 1813.” Harrison is seen at center in framed oval bust within a rectangle. Text above reading “Major General/William Henry Harrison.” “Hero Of Tippecanoe/Fort Meigs/And/Thames” below. Bottom vignette shows log cabin with cider barrel and flag on pole. Tiny text “Engraved By Doolittle & Munson CIN.” Overprinted at bottom reads “Born February 9th, 1773./Died April 4th, 1841.” Sullivan/Fischer #WHH-M11. This ribbon was printed originally as inaugural variety Sullivan/Fischer #WHH-11 and then over printed with the life dates at bottom for use as a memorial ribbon. Most surviving examples are in a quilt (now in the collection of the Smithsonian Institution National Museum Of American History). When held to the light three pin holes are seen at top plus four at bottom below death date. 1/16”x1/16” spot at right edge center. Trace of aging. Ribbon remains free of separations.
