Item Description
3.25x5". Picture is caricature of the aristocratic Van Buren. One hand, with bent pinky finger, holding goblet marked "MVB". He wears three rings on his other hand and below his bow tie is medallion with illustration with aged Andrew Jackson. Cut-out panel below reads "A Beautiful Goblet Of/White House Campaign." This is pulled down to change the goblet into a glass labeled "WHH" and his eyes and mouth display his displeasure. The panel now reads "An Ugly Mug Of/Log Cabin Hard Cider." Color accents to face, hands, goblet. Card has narrow stains on left and right margins and about 10% of the blank reverse. The earliest Presidential campaign metamorphic card we know of.
