Item Description
Highest Certified Of all the Cowboy heroes that came alive during the Golden Age, few can rival Tom Mix for popularity and success. He made over 300 films, ranging from the early days of silent films to the start of the talkies. When his film career was winding down in the early thirties, he was appearing in circuses. It was while working in a circus that he was approached by someone from the Ralston Purina for authorization to create a radio show based around his persona. Legend has it that he signed that authorization on the back of an envelope. The radio show went on to be a massive hit. Few shows in the history of radio generated more premiums or contests. Tom Mix was killed in 1940 in an automobile accident. The show continued. His self-titled comic book, published by Fawcett, debuted in 1948. It ran for 61 issues until it was canceled in 1953. This issue is 52 pages. The pages are white. This unrestored book is CGC-certified 9.6 (NM+). According to the CGC Census this is the highest graded copy they have seen. It is also recognized as being part of the Mile High Pedigree.
