Item Description
c. 1950s © Bob Smith. Made by Jay V. Zimmerman Co. under “Zany Toy” name. Die-cut triangular shaped illustrated boxes have Howdy at microphone at left of front window and five character images at right. Shown are Howdy, Clarabell, Mr. Bluster, Dilly Dally, and Flub-A-Dub. We have five hand puppets, each 8.25” tall w/soft vinyl head and cloth body, but Princess Summerfall Winterspring has obviously replaced Flub-A-Dub who is not here and has no box. She has her own box w/her name ink stamped on front. Other four boxes have printed stickers w/character names as issued. Four of five boxes have cellophane windows , all but one are loose. Princess box has crayon store prices, boxes have lt. creases here and there. Overall VG. Puppet heads have slight tackiness w/lt. wear and aging, Clarabell has darkened head as if suntanned. Puppets Fine overall. Paper folder script booklets have eight illustrated pages. Both have “Howdy Doody and Clarabell in School Bells”, but page colors are different w/different cover copyrights. Both are curled. Yellow variety has moisture marks and creasing. Good. The other is Fine. Puppets are rare w/boxes.
