Item numbers 953 through 2651 in auction 184
Item Description
Alex Toth contributes interior art to this issue. Jimmy Wakely started out as part of a musical trio. They had appeared on screen supporting Roy Rogers, gene Autry and several other film stars. Wakely was signed by Monogram pictures for a series of singing cowboy films, but he never hit the heights that others had. Even though he had done close to thirty B-movie Westerns, he just couldn’t get a grip on the public’s imagination. The movies were just part of his career. He had a recording contract and his comic was popular enough to run almost two years at the end of the forties and the beginning of the fifties. While not remembered as well as Roy or Gene, he did alright. The book has a nice photo-cover. The pages are white. This unrestored book is CGC-certified 9.4. (NM). According to the CGC Census this copy is tied with one other as the highest-graded copy they have seen. It is also recognized as belonging to the Mile High Pedigree.
