Item Description
The "Liberty Head" or "Coronet Head" five-dollar gold coin was minted by the US Mint from 1839 to 1908. Designed by Chief Engraver of the US Mint Christian Gobrecht, the obverse depicts a small profile portrait representing Liberty w/"Liberty" coronet, while the reverse depicts a heraldic eagle w/wings outstretched. It holds the distinction of being the only coin of a single design to be minted at seven US Mints - Philadelphia, Dahlonega, Charlotte, New Orleans, San Francisco, Carson City and Denver.
