Item Description
8.25 x 22” 1938. Rare and first example we have seen of this pennant. The Spider was created by pulp author R.T.M. Scott in the 1930s and was also featured in several movie serials by Columbia including “The Spider’s Web” and “The Spider Returns”. The pennant features a strong graphic image of a spider with web and logo in white printed on green felt. The image is very similar to the art found on the 1938 movie theater club card for “The Spider’s Web”. The four green felt tassels are still intact and attached. Pennant also notes the abbreviation “CPC” for Columbia Pictures Corporation on front. Some wear is visible on the pennant surface, but shows little wear to the silk screen that is typically worn or cracked on most vintage pennants. Small piece of pennant tip missing and a small .25” hole in the upper right corner that does not distract from the general appearance. Overall FN and would grade higher if not for these noted defects. First we've seen
