Item Description
3.25" shallow cardboard box has velvet interior with recess to hold the medal and a brown flocked cardboard lid. Medal is 2" in diameter and nearly 3/16" thick marked on the side edge with maker name "Whitehead-Hoag" and tiny stamped word "Sterling." One side shows the symbolic Trylon And Perisphere while the other side shows a shirtless artist at work holding pallet and brushes in his hands while he gazes upon a small design of the Trylon And Perisphere with accent rays above. Surrounding text "National Poster Competition" with blank panel beneath the words "Awarded To." Some pinpoints of tarnish around the side edge but obverse and reverse are mostly free of these pinpoint dots. Rare and first we've seen.
