Item Description
13/16" litho with title of the event printed on the pirate's hat and forming his beard. Below is bathing beauty with her swimming suit comprised of fine lines spelling out "Wilmington NC." Below are the event dates "Aug. 21-22-23, 1929." This event was celebrated three days each August between 1927 & 1929 to hopefully encourage a tourist boom and put Wilmington on the national "Festival Map." While the first two years went well this 1929 event saw excessive alcohol consumption with drunks scattered over the streets of downtown Wilmington leading embarrassed city official to consider cancelling future festivals, although the Great Depression stepped in and made the decision an easy one. Neat design and only example we've seen. NM displaying Mint.
