Item Description
First is 3.25" tall with very early use of celluloid on a suspended medallion. The hanger is embossed silver luster with somewhat darkened but not damaged fabric ribbon below naming maker W&H on the reverse. Suspended and held in a thick tin rim is a 1.75" domed double-sided celluloid with the front naming the event and date in Pittsburgh while on the other side is a sepia toned scene title "Battle Of Gettysburg July 3-1863" with artwork showing literally hundreds of tiny soldiers along with wagons both functional and destroyed, horses, cannon, etc. Celluloid is stain free and the piece overall is Exc. Next is a 6" tall ribbon badge with figural brass cannon barrel hanger at the top reading on the front "Citizens Executive Board." Below the event is named in silver lettering along with the additional title "Information" so the piece would have been worn by some citizen volunteer. Tiny age traces but still Extremely Fine. See rare Theodore Roosevelt on New Jersey Antietam Monument badge #230.
