1-3/8" (35mm) made of white metal finished in gun-metal black. Obverse inscription around "Free Speech, Free Press, Fremont," enclosing bust of Fremont to front. Reverse inscription around,"Fremont & Cochrane," enclosing scene depicting Fremont holding aloft a tattered flag in left hand and hat upraised in right hand, surrounded by cheering soldiers. Very slight loss of black finish on high points of relief images and tiny flattening of facial details on reverse, but not detectable without magnification. High quality near uncirculated example from the Joe Brown collection.
