Item Description
5x13x4.5" deep box contains 12" long plastic canoe. Ideal Toy Corporation, ©1951 United Features Syndicate Inc. This is red canoe color variation, also produced in yellow. Abner sits in canoe w/Lonesome Polecat who holds paddle. Jug in middle of canoe acts as wind-up for spring mechanism. When wound, Lonesome Polecat paddles canoe. "Wind 'Em Up And Watch 'Em Go Thru The Water." Canoe has "Th' Dogpatch Speshul" and patch emblazoned on side. Lonesome Polecat's feather in headband is broken as is typical. Toy is o/w working and Exc. Box has Abner and Lonesome Polecat illustrations as well as illustration of canoe and Al Capp name. Box shows obvious wear/aging w/some tape repairs inside, but is complete w/all flaps. Good. Scarce as boxed.
