3.25" diameter with young portrait on lustrous gold background. Lid has diagonal slight depression line from 10 o'clock to 4 o'clock with actual narrow crack 5/16" long vertically on the lids side edge. Underside of lid shows stress hairline. Still displays extremely well. There are a few craze hairlines left of his face and one above shoulder at right. Only loss of gold are two 1/8" dots by his last name and 3/8" long mark by his shoulder at left. Lower compartment interior edge has 1/8" flake out and another 1/8" surface flake, but both are covered when lid is in place. Last example we found a record for was 2008 Heritage Auction with price of $2,629.00. This variety, likely made for his 1841 inauguration is unlisted in Hake. Rare. Julie Powell Collection.
