Item Description
First is Sullivan & Fischer #GC-C1. 9.75" tall with 11" paper. Woven image and text reading "Souvenir/Of/The World's/Industrial And Cotton/Centennial/Exposition" at top. Elaborate and impressive eagle, stars, flags and profile in center. Below reads "New Orleans/1884-1885." Has .75" partial split and missing speck at top where it was once pinned to the original paper which is included. Bottom tip of ribbon has light tan mark on left edge. Still very clean overall. Paper has tone and corner flake but Fine with text "Woven At The Exposition Grounds/Main Building/Machinery Department/F.F.G. 17 & 18." Second is 8.5" tall and was issued for "Democratic/State/Convention,/Allentown, Pa."/Wednesday, April 29, 1896" with smaller notation reading "See Other Side." Reverse has text "Compliments Of/A.D. Bernhard,/Baker/And/Ice Cream Manufacturer,/Cor. Penn And Union Sts.,/Allentown,Pa./Ice Cream Of All Flavors Promptly/Delivered At All Hours Of/The Day./Telephone Connection. Try Our Cream/And Compare With Other Makes." Four light horizontal creases and heavy tanning on top .75" which could fold under. Lesser tan tone on bottom .75". Quite unusual combination of political purpose and advertising issued for a single day event. Rare. Julie Powell Collection.
