1" vertical stickpin holds all-metal flower bud with six movable segments with interior surfaces accented in red, blue and silver. Bud is surrounded by six metallic green leaves. Outer surface of one leaf reads "US Novelty Company Col. O." On the base is a brass lever. Pushing the lever down causes the six interior bud segments to close forming a dark brown bud with a few gold accent lines. Pushing the lever up causes the bud to spring open revealing a slightly yellowed celluloid semispheric dome with portrait of TR. The bud's segments tend to prefer the open position but with several tries they will stay completely closed until fully opened by means of the lever. Extremely rare and very imaginative mechanical. Trivial loss of a little metallic green from reverse surfaces of leaves and some age tone on celluloid dome but overall VF. A wonderful and rare mechanical. See next item.
