MORTON POTTERY C. 1950s 45 CAMPAIGN GLAZED ELEPHANTS, ONE RING HOLDER, FOUR DONKEYS.
Item Description
Most were issued for U.S. Senate candidates. Each elephant and donkey is about 3" long by 2" tall except the ring holder elephant with raised trunk is 3" tall. This piece has "Dirksen" across the back. Top edge of one ear has 1/8" flake off. The four donkeys are 1958 for MD. Gov. candidate Tawes. Each has his name and "Victory" on opposite side. Colors are light blue, brown, and a pair of gray. Of the other 45 elephants, designed identically, one light green has no name or text. This has a dot of excess brown glaze on trunk edge. In alphabetical order, the other 44 elephants, primarily for Senate candidates, mostly have name on front and "G.O.P." on reverse. These were issued for elections in two year intervals between 1948-1960. Shown in order and we will list last name, state and number of color varieties plus 13 with small damage.
