Item Description
5.25x7-3/8x1-1/8" deep cardboard box has choice litho art of Brer Fox and Brer Rabbit talking w/Uncle Remus on lid. Parker Brothers, c. 1900. Contains 39 cards, each 2.5x4" heavy cardstock w/choice full color art image on front w/anthropomorphic animal characters text w/stereotypical African-American dialect at bottom. Cards includes one Brer Rabbit card and two each of other characters including Tar Baby, Brer Fox, Brer Bar, Miss Bar, Brer Possum, Brer Gator, Miss Puddle Duck, Brer Wolf, Miss Rabbit, Brer Bullfrog, Brer Tarrypin, Mr. Runt, Tobe Fox, Miss Fox, 'Ittle Rab, Mr. Rooster, Brer Coon, Brer Buzzard, Miss Goose. Both lid and box bottom show moderate edge/corner tip wear w/glue repairs to lid, replaced 5.25" long side panel and replaced 2" section of side panel. Good overall, but main lid image still displays nicely. Cards have some handling wear and eight have creasing through center but are o/w clean and VG/Fine w/beautiful designs.
