Item Description
2" tall oval silvered brass watch fob with the product name "Vin Fiz" on the front top rim. The rest of the metal edge has elaborate design of leaves and grape clusters. At the center is a superb color slightly domed celluloid depicting a beautiful young woman in a purple early motorcar outfit and she wears a matching helmet with goggles and gloves. Her outfit is inscribed "Vin Fiz" across her chest and she holds a glass of the product to her mouth. Reverse has text "The Sparkling Grape Drink Vin Fiz At All Fountains 5¢." The reverse text is accented at center with a small image of grape clusters and at the very bottom is a tiny abbreviation of the maker's name Whitehead & Hoag. The image is one of the most beautiful we've seen executed in celluloid. When viewed closely, the details of the young woman's red lips can actually be seen through the empty top half of the glass she holds to her mouth. In our opinion, one of the nicest combination celluloid and metal watch fob pieces ever produced and only the second we've been able to offer in five decades. Includes original black leather strap and NM displaying Mint.
