Item Description
Smallest button with chick raising its tiny wings is 7/8" while largest is unusual fabric covered button 2.25" and naming "American Bantam Ass'n." Fabric has a couple of blurred letters on "American" and tiny dot of fabric off rim at 10 o'clock plus other lesser wear but overall in VG condition and the only example we have seen. The rest of the group begins with the first item which is a 1.25" celluloid on a long stickpin. This shows hen with her chicks surrounded by text "Guest of/Sept. 10-13-1902." Cello surface has many near pinpoint indents that do not break the celluloid but do show in reflected light. Second is early and rare button although somewhat stained and with dark and damaged W&H back paper. This promotes "Silver Campine Hen/Cherry Grove Farm, Ridgefield, N.J." Next is beautifully designed poultry feed button reading "The Park & Pollard Co./Lay Or Bust." Reverse has 1/8" cello pull that makes barely visible tiny bump on bottom edge but the piece displays Mint. Next is from 1934 Utah poultry convention. Some pinpoint age dots and a couple of tiny raised dots but full gloss. Next is from Kansas 1939 convention. Next with rim stain is real photo of young woman beneath text "Meet Me At The Poultry Show/Heuvelton, N.Y." with dates in 1909. Next is a "Visitor" button for a Kansas City 1936 convention. Last at bottom right with a small chick standing on a human hand reads "Connecticut Poultry Association Member." No back paper and a slightly raised bump at the center plus exceedingly faint gray mark along the chick's back. Except as noted these display Mint. Vast majority are first we've seen.
