Item Description
Large 2-1/8" superb color example in crystoglas process utilized briefly c. 1915 by W&H Co. Image is orange poppies, red poinsettia, green background leaves, orange fruit on very deep green background with lettering in gold "Los Angeles/County Of Fruit And Flowers." Both the pictorial element and description letters have reflective metallic quality from this special process. Back paper identifies this as Crystoglas Button by W&H of Los Angeles utilizing colored metal foils over an embossed tin reverse so that when viewed from the front the text and design has a 3-D effect that could only be achieved by this process. We've seen only five designs in this process, likely used briefly due to high cost. Exc., displays Mint. Scarce.
