Auction #212 - Part II
Item numbers 989 through 2633 in auction 212
Item Description
5.5x10x7" tall wooden cabinet table radio by Crosley, 1940 model #5529D. Originally sold for $16.99 in 1940. Walnut veneers w/original grille cloth. Internal Electro Dynamic speaker. Design includes preset station buttons on top, all for New York City stations of the period (WEAF, WOR, WABC, WJZ). WEAF was the first radio station for the New York area. We are unsure if these buttons still function, but radio itself works and plays well. Great Art Deco styling, complete w/original cord/plug. Scattered lt. wear/aging. VF overall. From the collection of John Scher, legendary concert promoter, producer and manager and comes with COA signed by him.
