Item Description
Nine 17x23" paper sheets, eight are stapled together at top. First two sheets are blank. All remaining sheets have 10.5x14.75" image areas. Third sheet has cover design w/Mary Marvel in traditional superhero costume in center w/lightning bolts radiating out from behind her and four different images of her in various civilian outfits. Fourth sheet is blue color progressive proof just showing same four civilian outfits w/o line art. Fifth sheet repeats cover design (but four civilian costumes have different color schemes), sixth sheet is red color progressive proof of cover w/o line art, seventh sheet is yellow color progressive proof w/line art, eighth sheet is yellow color progressive proof w/o line art. Comes w/same size loose sheet w/back cover design which has Mary in center wearing summer outfit surrounded by four different images of her in traditional superhero costume w/large bkg. star accents. For an unpublished paper doll book, c. 1940s. Four proofs have © Fawcett Publications printed text at lower left. All sheets have been folded into quarters w/small hole at center fold crease intersections and a few small color rubs along a few fold lines and some scattered lt. handling creases w/lt. margin wear at bottom. VG overall. Three similar proof pages can be seen in the superb Chip Kidd/Geoff Spear book "Shazam! The Golden Age Of The World's Mightiest Mortal." An incredibly rare group, just a small handful were printed as a test. From the Don Maris Collection.
