Item Description
Each is a 7/8" button issued c.1900-1915. There are 1,104 total buttons housed in high quality 12x13x4" cases each with a 3-ring binder holding about 20 plastic sheets with each button in a coin holder, 25 to a page. Vast majority have Sweet Caporal Cigarettes back paper but there are also Duke Cigarettes and W&H with no advertising back papers. The backs may be standard open back with spring pin, covered tin back with stickpin or open back with stickpin. There may be 20 to 30 buttons with the same country name but our count of 200 applies to distinctly different front designs. There are hundreds more counting back paper varieties plus hundreds of duplicates. Binder #6 (as numbered by the collector) holds 372 buttons Algeria through Great Britain. Of these 102 have minor or major stain (or other damage) plus 10 with crazing. In this binder there are 60 different front designs for countries and four different for cities. Binder #7 holds 374 buttons Great Britain through Paraguay. 129 have minor or major stain plus 15 crazed. This binder holds 80 different front designs for countries and five different cities. Binder #8 holds 358 buttons from Paraguay through Vienna. 125 have minor or major stain plus 15 are crazed. There are 60 different front designs for countries and three for cities. An amazing collection resulting from years of collecting. The largest group known to us.
